Academics and Career Readiness

Technical English 1

This course focuses on the development of excellent communication skills: listening, speaking, writing, reading, and the use of non-verbal and visual messages. Communication skills are applied to situations that simulate the world of work and post-secondary education. Connections are made to the student’s career and educational interests. Students develop professional and technical documents, such as: memos, manuals, letters, newsletters, feasibility studies and brochures as they explore the world of communications and careers.

For students in grades:11-12
Scheduling:One semester, 90 minutes per day or equivalent
Credits:One credit in English
Co-requisite:Concurrent enrollment in Technical Program, and instructor approval
College Preparation:NCAA pre-approved for college bound students

Career Development Center - Course Catalog

Adults are welcome to apply for daytime technical programs. A Vermont resident adult without a high school diploma is a secondary student and is eligible for tuition to be paid by their school district. Adults with high school diplomas will be charged a tuition. Financial aid may be available. Contact the Adult Education Office at 447-3596.
