Marketing

Marketing This two-year program prepares students for careers in the retail, wholesale and service occupations. Students are exposed to such areas as: advertising, communications, merchandise display and presentation, human relation skills, management skills, business operations, sales, marketing principles and employability skills. Students in this course complete hands-on activities associated with operating The Campus Store, gaining valuable work experience.

DECA, an association of marketing students, is an integral part of the program. Students have the opportunity to meet and compete with other marketing students on State, regional, national and international levels. DECA students are eligible to attend three conferences each year.

DECA

DECA, focused primarily on Marketing Education provides activities and classroom tools that promote the learning of competency-based skills in marketing, management and entrepreneurial career fields, and develop leadership and civic consciousness. DECA serves more than 160,000 students enrolled in secondary and postsecondary marketing education programs. DECA is co-curricular; it is an integrated part of the classroom instructional program.

Credits:A maximum of 3 credits per year
Graduation Requirement:students who successfully complete this two-year program shall receive one credit in math towards graduation requirements
Prerequisite: Above a 70 in math and Instructor permission
Suggested Preparation: Business Basics and word processing and spreadsheet skills
Post High School Education: Marketing graduates have enrolled in nursing school, Johnson & Wales, Hudson Valley Community College, St. Michael’s College, Bryant College, Franklin Pierce, Berkshire Community College and Community College of Vermont
Employment: Marketing graduates have been employed by Hannaford, Fillmore Pond, Orvis, Vt. Vets Home, Greendoor Spa, Cumberland Farms, NSK, Roy’s Plumbing, K&H Mfg., Pizza Hut and Price Chopper

Adults are welcome to apply for daytime technical programs. A Vermont resident adult without a high school diploma is a secondary student and is eligible for tuition to be paid by their school district. Adults with high school diplomas will be charged a tuition. Financial aid may be available. Contact the Adult Education Office at 447-3596.
