Law Enforcement II

Law Enforcement Events
Law, Public Safety & Security Careers Law Enforcement II is a unique hybrid program which partners with the CDC Co-Op program and local criminal justice agencies to provide students with relevant field-based experiences. Students enrolled in Law Enforcement II will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge in key areas studied during year one, and be able to demonstrate their acquired knowledge and skills in multifaceted virtual scenarios. This program does not follow a traditional classroom model and will require students to be flexible, willing to adapt to change and extremely motivated to learn.

Classroom seat time will generally be limited to the following areas of instruction:
  • Advanced control and restraint (including baton and oleoresin capsicum)
  • Accident reconstruction
  • Cyber-crime and digital forensics
  • Escalation and application of deadly force
  • Recognition of deception techniques
  • Advanced report writing and case-file preparation
  • Gangs
In addition to classroom seat time, students will be expected to participate in scenario- based learning facilitated by local law enforcement agencies and state certified instructors.

While not in the traditional classroom, students will work with the Co-Op coordinator and Law Enforcement II instructor to facilitate worksite placements in local criminal justice agencies such as: Probation & Parole, District and Family Court, Bennington Police Department, Bennington County Sheriff’s Office, Hoosick Falls Police Department, VT States Attorney’s Office, VT State Police, Bennington Rescue Squad, Department of Liquor Control, VT DMV Enforcement and the VT Department of Fish and Wildlife.
