The Law Enforcement course is designed to give students interested in exploring a career in law enforcement an overview of the criminal justice system. The course consists of lectures, demonstrations, field trips and the use of practical exercises, such as Mock Motor Vehicle Stops, Trials, and Emergency Response. Students will be exposed to the many facets of law enforcement, including: dispatch, probation, parole and corrections. Major topics to be covered include: crime scene investigation, criminal law, firearms, motor vehicle law, interview and interrogation and criminal investigation. Select students may be offered a ride-along program with the Bennington County Sheriff’s Department, the Bennington Police Department and the Vermont State Police.
