Law Enforcement

Law Enforcement The Law Enforcement Program is an exciting, fast-paced, academically challenging class for high school students interested in pursuing a career in the criminal justice field. The Bennington Police Department and the CDC Law Enforcement Program have partnered in a unique way to provide real hands-on experiences to students enrolled in the program. Interactive classes with Bennington Police Department personnel include: Tire deflation (Stinger Spike), control/restraint, impact weapons, firearms, less-than-lethal force, felony traffic stops and at-scene accident investigation. Hands-on training is balanced with instructor led classroom presentations, group work, mock scenarios and relevant project-based assignments.

Due to the partnership created with the Bennington Police Department, the CDC is also able to offer two internship positions at the Police Department which are available through the CDC’s Co-Op Program. Additionally, internships are available with the Bennington County Sheriffs Office and other local agencies on a case-by-case basis. All internships must be earned and are approved by the Co-Op Coordinator and Law Enforcement Instructor. Simply enrolling in the program does not guarantee a worksite placement.
