Medications

Nurse
Student medical needs are addressed by the nursing staff located in the MAUHS building in room 131. Their phone number is 447-7511, x 131.
   
Medications
cdc student medications The school nurse or a staff member designated by the school nurse must distribute all medication.
cdc student medications All medication must be stored and locked in the health office or double locked in an area known to the school nurse except as stated below.
cdc student medications Students may only carry inhalers for asthma, Epi-pen for allergic reactions, or insulin with written permission from a physician and parent. Medication must be provided in its original container.
cdc student medications Prescription medication will be given in school only with written permission from the parent and written instructions from the physician. [Since the label on the bottle may not be accurate it cannot be accepted as the written permission from the parent or guardian.]
cdc student medications Non-prescription medication will not be dispensed without written permission from the parent or guardian. Written permission expires at the end of each school year. No aspirin will be given in school because of its possible association with Reye’s Syndrome.
