English Communications

This course focuses on the development of written communication skills with emphasis on production of final draft documents suitable for distribution or publishing. Students will gain experience in editing and proofreading. Direct instruction and/or review of grammar usage and mechanics will be provided to students on an individualized, as-needed basis. Students will explore forms and formats associated with practical writing within the business and technical arenas. Reading and writing assignments will be targeted towards each student’s interests, career goals and educational plans. This course will prepare students for college composition courses.

For students in grade: 11-12
Scheduling: One semester, 90 minutes per day or equivalent
Co requisite: Concurrent enrollment in Technical Program 
Prerequisite: Grade of 70 or better on Technical English 1 and instructor approval
Credits: One Credit in English
College Preparation: NCAA pre-approved for college bound students

Career Development Center - Course Catalog

Adults are welcome to apply for daytime technical programs. A Vermont resident adult without a high school diploma is a secondary student and is eligible for tuition to be paid by their school district. Adults with high school diplomas will be charged a tuition. Financial aid may be available. Contact the Adult Education Office at 447-3596.
