This 2-year program will help prepare you to become a licensed professional in the field of Cosmetology and open doors to your future that you may not have known existed. Students will learn theory as well as the application of practical skills including customer relations, teamwork, interpersonal communication, initiative, reliability, professionalism, attire and other workplace and employability readiness skills. Students accepted into the second year of the program will work in a client oriented environment as well as continuing with their academic and practical arts studies.
Career Opportunities: Some of the vast opportunities include: Salon owner, salon manager, artistic director, design team member, platform artist, freelance artist, nail technician, hair stylist, hair color specialist, texture service specialist, wig or extension specialist, retail specialist, esthetician, make-up artist, salon receptionist, manufacturer representative, state board examiner, technical specialist, educator, beauty industry journalist, stylist for TV, movies, or theater and school owner.

Science - A student who successfully completes this two-year program shall receive one credit in Science toward graduation requirements. |

| Industry Recognized Certifications: |
Students that complete the two-year program will earn up to 1440 hours towards their Vermont State License through classroom and practical experiences. Additional hours may be obtained via cooperative opportunities with local salon partners as well as attendance at trade shows and workshops. Others may transfer their hours to a post secondary institution or continue to pursue their license through an apprenticeship program. Students that complete the required 1500 hours, have their high school diploma or GED, and are at least 18 years of age, may apply to take the Vermont State Cosmetologist License Examination. |

- Finger waving, pin curls, roller formation, blow drying
- Manicuring/Pedicuring
- Basic aestheticism, Facials, make-up
- Hair analysis and scalp treatments

- Haircutting, clipper cutting, hairstyling, and hair shaping
- Sanitary personal health and hygiene understanding
- Infection control, Sanitation and sterilization techniques
- Laws, rules, and regulation for all supplies, chemical and waste storage
