Medical Professions

Do you want to become a doctor, nurse, physical therapist, or enter one of the hundreds of other careers in the health care field? If yes, then this is the program for you! This program combines theoretical learning with the development of hands-on skills within the medical field. The first year of the program focuses on the foundational knowledge and skills needed to pursue a health-related career. A wide range of medical careers will be explored as students job shadow health care professionals in careers such as: nursing, medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, imaging, rehabilitation therapy, laboratory, emergency medicine, pharmacy and renal dialysis.

During the second year of the program, students further their knowledge and skills related to a wide variety of health careers. Students will also have the opportunity to explore a few chosen career fields in more depth through co-op experiences. The second year of the program focuses on anatomy & physiology, medical terminology, pathophysiology, medical math, and mental illness. Second year students also have the opportunity to earn 6 college credits in Human Biology and Medical Terminology from CCV.

Adults are welcome to apply for daytime technical programs. A Vermont resident adult without a high school diploma is a secondary student and is eligible for tuition to be paid by their school district. Adults with high school diplomas will be charged a tuition. Financial aid may be available. Contact the Adult Education Office at 447-3596.
