Automotive Technology |
Automotive Technology is a NATIONALLY CERTIFIED AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN TRAINING Program. This is a two-year theory and hands-on program. Year one of the program is designed to give the student insight and training in the auto mechanics field in the following areas: careers in the auto industry, shop safety, hand tools, power tools, automotive shop equipment, introduction to automotive systems,
preventive maintenance, wheels and tires, steering and suspension systems, alignment and brake systems. Year two of the program is
designed to give the student skills in the following areas: shop safety, Vermont State Inspection Program, starting and charging
systems, emission control systems, fuel systems, electrical circuits, computer systems, airbags and antilock brakes.

Graduation Requirement: |
Science - A student who successfully completes this two-year program shall receive one credit in science towards graduation. |

Prerequisite: |
70 or above in Math; 9th grade reading level or above; or permission of instructor. |

College Connections: |
Students may participate in the Fast Forward Dual Enrollment program through CCV. They can complete up to 2 college courses (6 credits) through the course of the program |

Post High School Education: |
Auto Tech graduates have enrolled in State University of New York, National Auto & Diesel, Vermont Culinary Institute, Hudson Valley Community College, New England Technical College, Ohio Technical College, University of Northwestern Ohio, Barron University, Wyoming Technical College, and Vermont Technical College |

Employment: |
Auto graduates have been employed by Ronnie’s Cycle Shop, Bucky’s Auto Shop, Dailey’s, Bennington Motor Car, Auto City, Rensselear Honda, Porter Brace, Darren Chapman Construction, Quick Pit, Wal-Mart, Bennington Tire, Carbone, BCIC, NSK, Morrison’s and Nichol’s Auto Shop |

Students taking this program are eligible to participate in SkillsUSA contests and events, and the Ford/AAA Auto Skills competition. |
