Message from the CDC Director
One of the most important things you can do in high school is identify your interests; develop career goals; and prepare for your future career. Everyone at the Southwest VT Career Development Center is prepared to help you identify your interests, strengths, and abilities.
The information in this handbook has been compiled to help you be successful at the Career Development Center. Programs and courses at the CDC have been organized according to career clusters to help you find the right courses that will prepare you for college and/or work.
Our student leadership organizations offer a great way to build friendships and improve your technical skills. Through your participation you will acquire leadership abilities that will serve you throughout your lifetime and, give you the opportunity to participate in state and national competitions and earn college scholarships!
At the CDC we know that your academic skills are equally important to your success as technical skills, and you will find that all of our programs and courses help you improve your academic skills. Our instructors strive to answer the student's age old question, "When will I ever use what I’m learning?" We offer the opportunity for high school students and adults to learn through a variety of practical hands-on experiences.
We hope you will take advantage of all the opportunities that our technical center has to offer and watch yourself succeed. Read this book carefully; it’s your passport to success at the Career Development Center.
Best wishes for your success,
Donna Oyama
Director
